Our chapter, organized 7 December 1913 in Yankton, SD, is named for Daniel Newcomb, born 19 April 1747 in Massachusetts. He served the Revolution by offering patriotic service in New Hampshire. He was a justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court, as well as a member of the New Hampshire state senate. Daniel Newcomb procured the first bell for the town of Keene, New Hampshire and the First Church. He was the ancestor of Katherine Roy Stevens, one of our first chapter regents.
